Your 3rd and 4th graders are ready for longer passages and real science words. Each passage covers one farm animal or predator, including where it lives, what it eats, and how its body is built. Words like habitat, herbivore, and warm-blooded appear naturally in the reading, and each one is explained in the sentence where it shows up. Students find the main idea and three supporting details, then record them in the graphic organizer.

The answer keys make checking work fast. The main-idea sentence and the three detail sentences are marked on every key. In the color edition, each detail is highlighted to match the color of its Detail box.
